What it means
Workers and machines may be on or beside the road, and the layout can change from one day to the next.
What to do
Slow down and follow the temporary signs or flagmen. Expect changed lanes, rough surfaces and people working close to the road.
How to read warning signs
Warning signs are red-bordered triangles pointing up. They don't order you to do anything: they tell you what's coming so you can slow down and get ready.
More warning signs
- Traffic light signals ahead
- Low-flying aircraft crossing ahead
- Two-way traffic ahead
- Hazard ahead
- Road junction ahead
- Junction ahead: stop or give way
