What it means
The surface can lose grip here, often because of rain, mud or spilled oil. Stopping takes much longer on a slippery road.
What to do
Slow down straight away. No sudden braking, accelerating or sharp steering, and leave a bigger gap to the vehicle ahead.
How to read warning signs
Warning signs are red-bordered triangles pointing up. They don't order you to do anything: they tell you what's coming so you can slow down and get ready.
More warning signs

- Danger of falling and fallen rocks ahead
- Pedestrian crossing
- Children crossing ahead
- Cyclists
