Kenyan priority sign · R.1

Stop

What it means

The only eight-sided sign on the road, so you can recognise it even when it's faded. It's an order, and it applies every time, even when the road looks empty.

What to do

You MUST stop completely at the stop line. Slowing down is NOT enough. Look both ways, and only move off when the road is fully clear.

How to read priority signs

Priority signs tell you who goes first at a junction. Their shapes are unique, a red octagon for STOP and a triangle standing on its point for GIVE WAY, so you can recognise them at a glance.
