What it means
Marks a school crossing where children have the right to cross. It's an order to stop, not a warning to slow down.
What to do
You must stop when children are crossing. You'll see this by school entrances with a crossing patrol or crossing zone.
How to read prohibitory signs
Prohibitory signs are mostly circles with a red ring, and they tell you what you must not do or set a limit you must keep. They're the opposite of the blue circles, which tell you what you must do.
More prohibitory signs
- Priority for on-coming traffic
- End of all prohibitions
- End of speed limit
- Parking prohibited
- Parking or waiting prohibited
- No stopping zone
